Ballantyne Corporate Park’s eighth annual Color the Park drive for Classroom Central will be held July 22 – July 31. Classroom Central is a free store for teachers and supports more than 100,000 children in our area that need school supplies.

Join Ballantyne Corporate Park to collect packs of markers, colored pencils and crayons to give underprivileged children the tools they need to succeed.

MetLife Participates in Week of Giving at Second Harvest

MetLife associates recently participated in a “Week of Giving” at Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina by volunteering every day from June 8 through 12. The Second Harvest Food Bank is a regional distribution warehouse that supplies food and grocery items to over 650 charitable agencies that assist people in need across 19 counties in North and South Carolina.

Associates at the Charlotte campus committed to filling morning and afternoon shifts for five consecutive days at the Food Bank to assist with various tasks in the warehouse. By week’s end, nearly 200 associates had filled 10 shifts and volunteered 585 hours of their time.

The associates who volunteered also had an internal challenge of submitting a creative team photo while at the Food Bank. The Wednesday afternoon team emerged victorious with the photo pictured here.

Experiments in Money - Free Lunch & Learn Seminar

Learn how to set attainable financial goals and adjust to life's curve balls. Paws For The Cause

The third annual Paws For The Cause Humane Society fundraiser will be held Thursday, July 7, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Cedarwood Country Club. Dinner will be provided with a $10 (minimum) donation. Silent auction items include a round of gold with a PGA professional, Carolina Panthers tickets, autographed items and much more! All proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Charlotte. The Morrison Family YMCA is hosting its 6th annual Tri! Ballantyne on Saturday, July 18, at 7 a.m. The Y is looking for volunteers for the event and the Kids’ Tri! Ballantyne. Come on your own or volunteer with friends, family or coworkers. Groups are welcome! Available shifts range from 4:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Register as an individual or as a group.

Sara’s Y Breaks Ground in Ballantyne Corporate Park

Community leaders and officials from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, Bissell and Ballantyne Corporate Park gathered on June 23 for a groundbreaking ceremony for Sara’s Y, a new 22,000 – 24,000 sq.ft. YMCA of Greater Charlotte facility in Ballantyne Corporate Park. The new Y is named in memory of philanthropist Sara Harris Bissell. Sara’s Y is projected to open in January 2016. A recent Charlotte Observer article covered the event.

MetLife Donates $30,000 to Easter Seals

On June 18, MetLife presented a check donation of $30,000 to Easter Seals. The donation was made in honor of Disability Insurance Awareness Month, which takes place each May. 

MetLife team members Gene Lunman, executive vice president of Retail Life & Disability, Kieran Mullins, senior vice president of Third Party Sales, Matt Quale, vice president, U.S. Retail Marketing, Brian Bruneau, assistant vice president of Life & Disability Marketing and Sutton White, Director of product marketing, as well as the Disability Insurance Marketing team, presented the check to Jennifer Crumpler, VP for Development of Easter Seals and Michael Schultze, Foundation Chair of Easter Seals.

MetLife selected Easter Seals as the recipient of the donation because of the agency’s dedication to help children and adults with disabilities attain greater independence. Easter Seals provides exceptional services, education, outreach and advocacy to people living with autism and other disabilities so they may live, learn, work and play in our communities. MetLife offers disability insurance as part of its product portfolio and is committed to offering a product that assists people in continuing to live a fulfilled life after and during a disability.
