Dana Rader Golf School Hosts LPGA*USGA Girls Golf
Monday, April 27, 2015
Dana Rader Golf School is proud to serve as Charlotte’s site for LPGA*USGA  Girls Golf, a nationwide developmental golf program that encourages girls ages 7-17 to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships and sample competition in a supportive and positive learning environment. The program has 20 participants, and sessions take place every other Friday afternoon through August 7, with a final event on August 16.

At a recent session inspired by Earth Day, Erik Kennelly, assistant superintendent at The Golf Club at Ballantyne, met with the group to plant a pine tree at the course’s 1st hole.

According to Site Director, Julie Cole, “It’s important for the girls to experience the process—digging a hole, planting the tree, fertilizing and watering in order to appreciate the beauty around them on the golf course. Our golf course is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, complete with grass, sand, trees, flowers, 33 birdhouses for bluebirds, nuthatches and chickadees, and of course, honey bees!”

Later this spring, the girls will attend the 2015 Symetra Classic at Raintree Country Club.
