Bissell Development Announcements
| 2011 at Ballantyne Corporate Park
December 2010 marked completion of the new Everett Building and 3-story parking deck on North Community House Road, with Calhoun Building scheduled for early Spring 2011. These two office buildings, with Irby and Hayes, complete the four building set originally planned for this section of Ballantyne Corporate Park. Square footage of Class A office space in the Park is around 3.5 million, of which almost one third has achieved LEED Gold certification.
The central outdoor feature for this 4 building set is Kosonen Park, tucked between Hayes and Everett, and includes 3 bronze Raven sculptures by New Mexico artist Peter Woytuk, whose work is featured throughout the Corporate Park's 535 acres. Originally known as Raven Park, the area was recently renamed by Smoky Bissell in honor of Margaret Oseland Kosonen. Through Bissell's Land Services department, Kosonen Park has been transformed recently with additional trees, flowers and benches, offering a beautiful view and a more serene, enjoyable setting. |
| Everett Building is LEED® Gold Certified USGBC LEED Gold Certification
Bissell Development has been awarded LEED® Gold Certification for the Everett Building. Everett joins the LEED Gold Certified Irby, Hayes, Harris and Boyle Buildings and the Calhoun Building, currently under construction, in Bissell Development’s over 1 million square foot LEED Gold commitment. The Everett Building has been certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED is the nation’s most preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
The Everett Building achieved LEED certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. By using less energy and water, LEED certified building saves money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduces greenhouse gas emissions; and contributes to a healthier environment for residents, workers and a larger community.
LEED Certification of the Everett Building was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. These features include:
- Expansive views and natural light enhance employee morale and productivity
- Higher levels of indoor air quality
- Exposure to natural light
- Reflective roof to reduce heat absorption
- Low flow water fixtures throughout the building
- Use of native & adaptable landscaping
- Innovative water technologies capture rainwater for future
- Use of 100% recycled steel materials
- Non-VOC materials
